This happened to a customer this morning who had a buyer ready to sign on the dotted line when he re-read a report that there were termites found in the garden beds and had found mud tracks leading into the house. This buyer was then able to say he was keen to buy but NOT until the termites were treated. This cost the owner a termite barrier and repair to the structures. THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO EEEEEW...

http://a1pestcontrolcanberra.com.au We get all sorts of different requests which are obviously upsetting to the homeowner - especially if its maggots! A call at 8pm the other night had maggots falling out of the over the shove exhaust and believe it or not this is common when rats or possums die either from baits or they get trapped inside the roof and can't find their way out. It's different in summer you would definitnely smell the bodies by this stage that maggots are on the body of the animal but in winter they keep for a little longer. We have even had maggots dropping from the down lights. WHAT WE DO... We will retrieve the body and dispose of it BUT replace with an odour bag one that does not mask the smell but actually absorbs the smell. Basically, once you see evidence you know then that you have a termite problem and that it can be costly as you will need to: 1) chase them out of the property 2) further protect the property with a termite barrier to keep them from returning. There are some people that will only want the chase out the termites as a bandaid solution BUT the prospective new buyer hearing the word "termite" will either withdraw any offer, negotiate a cheaper price or insist that the owner install a termite barrier. When Canberra property owners get a termite inspection or building inspection these reports are only good for 3 month period before you will need to re-order the inspections again. As a Canberra based and fully Australian owned business, we find that the bigger companies charge a lot more for doing less! Here is our story, a client rung us at 8pm last night to say that he had called the multinational company who came to do a visual termite inspection and charged $400 to view and say the termites were in one area of the home. The client said through doing a renovation he thought that the termites are in another part of the house and would they come out again "yes sure" they said that will cost another $400. So the client had decided that he needed them to come back with a plan of action as needed to do this urgently as the builder was only available for 2 days and the tenant would be away. The multinational said "we can do it in around 2 weeks time!" ...
